CSS has 4 types of layout:
1st is static page layout(The static page is sometimes called a fixed layout or static width layout)
2nd is Liquid page layout( Liquid page layout sometimes called fluid or fluid width layout.
3rd is Adaptive page layout
4th is Responsive page layout
Static Page Layout:
Static page is working with fixed width and without using media query. because of that in mobile this page will look very small. we can't see any changes in the layout when window is resized.
Liquid Page Layout:
Liquid page layout all container has percentage width but has no media query. because of that, In mobile this page will look very small with resizing content and resizing width of container.
Adaptive Page Layout:
Adaptive page layout all container has fixed width in px(pixel) and also has mobile media query with using html meta viewport. here you can hide, enlarge, or move the content to make it look good on any screen. but because of fixed size you can't resize your container and that's why you need to put width auto or use parentage width for mobile.
Responsive Page Layout:
Responsive page layout all container has percentage width and also has mobile media query with using html meta viewport. here you can resize, shrink, hide, enlarge, or move the content to make it look good on any screen.
The main reason behind this subject is that many client, developers don't know different between fluid layout, responsive and liquid layout.
